The Mazda cx-8 Osaki le a few months ago I reviewed the absolute base model Mazda cx-8 the sport petrol front-wheel-drive now that car is 39 990 plus on-road costs but you can spend another 30 000 on the cx-8 if you want to and this is how the Osaki le sits at the top of the cx-8 range I’m going to show you that this narrow body large suv from Mazda is reasonably good value for money against.
The CX-8 To See How It Drives
Some of its competitors it may be far more expensive than the base68 but it certainly feels considerably more expensive particularly inside although you can see it outside as well where it’s got a bit more brightwork it’s got those really attractive 19-inch wheels and that sort of metallic mid-grey finish and this one’s also wearing soul red crystal.
Now soul red has been Mazda’s signature color for a long time some would say it’s a little bit played out I guess but I think in super deep crystal form on this cx8 it is worth the extra 495 dollars now in today’s video we’re going to do our usual thing we’ll jump inside the car to saki le check out the interior.

The Osaki LE This Is The Nicest A CX-8
The center console then as you start to work your way up the range of any Mazda you start noticing all these little changes accumulating into something much better and bigger nowhere in the Osaki le this is the nicest a cx-8 gets so we’re sitting on Nappa leather it’s got quilting around the sides it’s chroma brown which is a special color.
It’s a choice between this sort of auburn red kind of shade and pure white depending on whether you want to go for a lighter or a darker interior here with the chroma brown paired with the black headliner it’s kind of quite clubby in here it almost reminds me of like a genesis color combination it’s quite lush we’ve got a beautiful stitch leather steering wheel.
That feels good in the hand we’ve got leather on the shifter and we’ve got sort of simulated leather up here on the dash but also soft material here where your leg or knee rests which helps cushy armrests on either side so the driver’s environment here sitting upfront it does feel extremely comfortable and supportive now.
The CX-8 Is Now A Bit Of A Mix Of The New
The secondary trim running here along with the doors and the dashboard is this kind of well it’s plastic it looks like interlocking metal hexagons on some trims Mazda uses quite nice genuine wood and I think that probably would have worked even better here but it’s fine it’s inoffensive now what else have we got well the cx-8 is now a bit of a mix of the new and the old for Mazda.
The basic design here dates back to the launch of the new cx-5 in 2017 here in Australia it’s aging pretty well it’s quite handsome but the technology has copped a big upgrade dot dot dot if you buy one of the most expensive trims the base cars in the cx-5 and the cx-8 still get the old screen but the higher end versions including this le get a new 10-inch screen up here.
Which you can only use with the rotary commander down between the seats which is fine because that’s a safe and easy way to interact with it uh while you’re driving and on bumpy roads this is, a real boon now it’s a little bit hobbled compared to the same system in the Mazda 3 and cx-30 which introduced this screen because.
cx-80 That Would Be Like A Rear-Wheel-Drive
You can’t change track on the little volume dial down here but that’s okay you, of course,e have track buttons up here on the steering wheel in front of you you’ve got a mix of analog and digital screens or analog gauges I should May and then a digital screen in between that’s okay but it’ll be nice if you could put a map there or song information you can’t but you do have a good heads-up display.
That you can see through polarized sunglasses plus a bose stereo that sounds his car crisp clear and loud and in terms of practicality we’ve now got wireless charging ahead of the shifter big cupholders dual armrest here with felt lining in there a couple of usb ports and door bins that can take a water bottle of one and a half liters.
Which is really good final note is to say that soon mazda will Mazda introduce a new generation of large suvs callSUVshe cx-60 70 80 and 90. if Australia gets the cx-80 that would be like a rear-wheel-drive based more luxurious version of this car but Mazda has already confirmed the cx-8 will be living a long life in Australia so it’s not on the cusp of being retired now on that note.
The CX-8 Osaki LE The Captain’s Chairs In The Second

These seats are comfy and they’ve got a huge range of electric adjustments like ridiculously big recline more than you’d usually find you can slide them for and aft with the same sorts of electric adjustment controls that you would get up front and these seats like the ones in front are both heated and ventilated very very nice plus we’ve got a separate climate zone with fan speed and temperature back here we’ve still got big cupholders another copy of the front armrest with felt lining and two fast-charging usb ports.
