The all-new 5th generation KIA Sportage now the previous-generation Kia shortages have been practical and competent vehicles but ultimately not that exciting and it’s not the case for the new car I mean just look at it this is Kia’s opposites unite design language and frankly, it has taken the medium suv segment by storm.

The 5th gen Sportage builds on Kia’s opposites unite design philosophy and I think that’s a fairly fitting way to describe this card because it is a fairly boring vehicle segment the medium suv but it has a lot of design flair and that starts around the front here with what Kia’s calling the mask which I think is quite appropriate given the times.

The Kia Is A Great Car To Live With Inside

How it looks and that starts with the technology especially in this gt line example which we’ll talk about the 12.3-inch screens feature on this sort of curved integrated screen that looks really good and just crisp and right up to the moment I don’t think this is going to age in the lifetime of this vehicle so yeah looks good and the other good thing.
The Lower Grade Cars Still Do Get A Digital Gauge
The lower grade cars still do get a digital gauge cluster it’s not an analog dial you get a digital gauge cluster it’s just a little bit different to this looks a little less crisp and high definition so yeah well done on this the other great thing about this interior is the little HVAC control slash shortcut buttons section here it doubles basically as your shortcut buttons.
We have them here so you can select map nav radio and media or you can just go press a button and you’ve got your climate controls that means you don’t have to jump through any menus to access anything it’s all there in front of you and that’s a clever touch that I don’t think any other manufacturers are doing right now above that.
We’ve got some nice materials some faux wood which does look a little bit more Ikea than parker furniture but still, it’s a nice touch in a medium suv for your family does elevate it a little bit let’s do these cool vents and yeah the general feeling is pretty high quality as for storage it’s a bit of a mixed bag so we’ve got this sliding little door here wireless phone charging underneath in this gt line grade and then.
You’ve Got Two Cupholders Here They Are Deployable
You’ve got two cupholders here they are deployable but with this bottle which is metal, it does tend to rattle around a little bit so that can be a little bit annoying and you can’t fit this size of bottle in the door bins either they’re pretty useless you can only really fit a sort of 300 ml bottle so I think that’s a little bit of an area for improvement but.
I mean we are looking for things now as for the other storage we’ve got a decent center bin under here nice and softly appointed moving on to material qualities we’re going to talk a little bit about the secondary plastics as well because although most of the stuff is nice up on the dash you’ve got this faux leather stuff which is nice and soft down here just.
Where the passenger’s knee touches you’ve got some scratchy plastics that’s something that could have been lifted to bring a little bit more of a premium feel again but at least this gt line has soft touch door materials and soft-touch there nice little leatherette armrest so you don’t get that on the base s model which makes it quite uncomfortable so definitely test drive.
Where Kia Has Worked On Making The Sportage
The variant you intend to buy before you do have very nice seats though leather-appointed you’ve got this little extra suede touch on this gt line they’re also heated and cooled which is great for Australian summers and cold winters that you may experience in your climate but we don’t get so much here in Sydney ahead of me.
I’ve got this nice leather pointed steering wheel you’ve got buttons that fall easily to hand to control most of the functions on the vehicle and a nice set of paddle shifters behind you’ve also got a panoramic sunroof above me and a pretty decent 10-speaker Harman Kardon stereo which is a very nice touch now let’s jump into the backseat to check out this car’s practicality on top of all the technology added in the front seat it’s in the back seat where Kia has worked on making the Sportage more comfortable and more usable for families so to do that they’ve lengthened the car.
